And on to the next!

It's been longer than I thought since I updated my blog. I thought I had wrote a post after the 100 for 100 show, but I guess not. That was a fun experience. I got to meet other artists in the area, get some advice, and see a lot of great work. My prints didn't sell but I am looking forward to participating next year if they want me.
It's so beautiful out today! It's a perfect day for making panels in the woodshop. I'm going to be working more with collage/ mixed media for my next paintings. I love the process of collaging. I love finding the perfect scraps of paper.
I did this self portrait about five years ago.

I'm also going to be lettering a van for my brother business. I've never done anything like that so we see how that goes. It should be quite interesting.

One Hundred for $100.00

I just got an e-mail yesterday from the Better Bennington Corporation saying they would like to have two of my prints in their auction. One is a portrait of George and the other is a gestural abtraction of flower. I'm excited for it. Now I just have to get them matted and framed. I hope it won't cost me too much but I know it probably won't be cheap.
Back to the studio!

If only there were more hours

I'm so tired but I can't sleep. I feel like I've accomplished a good amount of stuff I needed to do this 'weekend' (I had Monday and Tuesday off from work) At the same time I wish I had done so much more. There is never enough time in the day and once I start a project time flies by way too quickly.

The best part is that my storage unit is almost done!

These pictures are from the first day.

George started working on it for me and now the only thing left is creating dividers. No more having all my paintings leaning against the wall, falling over, and getting damaged. yay!

Once my storage unit was upright in it's spot I started organizing and sorting through my piles of old work on paper. I found a lot that I had completely forgotten about. When you haven't seen something you've created for so long it's amazing how differently you see it. Maybe I'll put some of that stuff up next time. When I finished organizing I went back to work on some commissioned portraits. I'm almost done with those..only a little more left to finish.

I can't remember what else I was going to write. I supposed I should try to get some sleep considering it's almost 3 am and my mind doesn't want to work.

Storage unit...part one

I went to Home Depot a few days ago with George and bought some wood to make a storage unit for my paintings and drawings. It cost me a lot more than I wanted to spend but it will be worth it when it's done.

My attempt to create a storage unit for my paintings is currently making my studio even more cluttered. George and I were going to put it together but my brother wants to help too. He's the one with the drill plus he does this kind of stuff for a living. Since I have to work at night for the next few days I won't be able to do anything with it until Monday or Tuesday. I hate waiting..I wish I could put it together now but at least I know it will be less likely to fall apart after a week. I'm so excited!

It's been a while

I am definately going to start writing in here again. It's been so long. It feels good to write about what I'm working on and planning, what I'm trying to accomplish..etc. Now I'm living in Vermont with my fiance. I have my own studio to work in now! Right now it's a mess. It's gotten to the point where I can't work very well in it. When it's too cluttered I get distracted by everything. Time to move stuff and re-organize everything!

So Far

I'm almost done.. in fifteen more days I'll be handing in my artist packet...in twenty five days I'll be graduating... and sometime at the end of May I'll be moving to Vermont to live with my fiance.
It's the beginning of a lot of changes. It's really exciting, but there's also some stress with it. I think writing about what I need to do will probably help me see things a lot clearer. I am an obcessive list maker I must admit.

Tomorrow I need to call about having my paintings photographed. Then I have studio and seminar, we're watching presentations tomorrow. Thankfully mine's next week. Oh.. I also have to hand in my questionaire for the senior exhibition. Tommorrow night I will set up for my review for thursday morning (three of the faculty come and critique my work) Find existentialist music for friday.

For my film class I need to finish my long paper on Apocalypse Now and Platoon. I'm having a hard time writing this one. Then I have two short papers on political movies. The Contender and Wag the Dog. I haven't decided what I'm going to write for the last long paper.
The only thing I have left for zero and infinity is my portfolio, of course I haven't done it yet but it should be easy.

Issues in Ideology should just be a take home test.

And most importantly...work on my paintings!! This is becoming a pain as the semsester draws to an end because everyone wants to use the spray booth and that's the only place I can pour resin.

I know there's more I'm forgetting, but it's so hot in this room it's making me tired.
